During your assessment, our Invisalign Dentist in Oxford will examine your teeth and bite and discuss your teeth straightening options to see if Invisalign treatment is suitable for you.
If you’re suitable for Invisalign aligner treatment and wish to proceed, the next step is to take a digital 3D scan of your teeth and bite using our state-of-the-art oral scanner. It’s much more accurate, quicker and more pleasant than traditional messy dental impressions using putty.
Once your digital scan our Invisalign Dentist will perform a ClinCheck which uses 3D animation software to virtually plan how your teeth and smile will look after treatment. This is an innovative way to see your own smile before and after treatment. Once the planning is complete, the ClinCheck simulation is approved and your aligners are made.
Next you’ll have your aligners fitted. As part of aligner treatment, small translucent attachments are usually fixed on to some of your teeth. The attachments are barely visible and are an important component of aligner treatment as they help to improve the speed and efficiency of tooth movement.
You will receive a new aligner for every planned tooth movement made during treatment and will need to change the aligners every 7 or 14 days. Aligners must be removed for eating, brushing/flossing and contact sport but otherwise need to be worn at all times. If worn as prescribed, normally 22 hours per day, you will get the results you are looking for!
Once you’ve completed your Invisalign treatment and have a beautiful new smile, it’s very important to ensure that the teeth don’t move out of place. This is achieved by wearing custom-made retainers which help to ensure that your teeth stay straight for years to come.
